New Atlanta and Fulton County Local Sales Taxes

As per Georgia Department of Revenue Policy Bulletin SUT-2017-01 published on January 18, 2017.

We urge everyone to read the entire bulletin but, here are some excerpts:

“On November 8, 2016 the electorate of the City of Atlanta voted to levy the Atlanta MARTA Sales Tax at a rate of 0.5 percent beginning March 1, 2017. The voters also elected to levy
the Atlanta TSPLOST at a rate of 0.4 percent beginning April 1, 2017. As a result, the “total sales tax rate inside the City of Atlanta will change from 8 percent to 8.5
percent beginning March 1, 2017  …..The total sales tax rate will increase again on April 1, 2017, rising …to 8.9 percent

Fulton County Outside the City of Atlanta changes on April 1st to “…the total Fulton County sales tax rate outside the City of Atlanta will change from 7 percent to 7.75 percent beginning April 1, 2017

S-Tax users will see software updates that incorporate these changes as needed.   We currently have no additional information at this time.
