Entering Sales Tax Data for the City of Atlanta & Fulton County — Changes

As you know, both the City of Atlanta and Fulton County have changed their sales tax rates so that they include fractional percentages.  Also, the structure of the TSPLOST taxes in the City of Atlanta have impacted the way that Fulton County TSPLOST taxes are calculated.

To accommodate these changes, we have changed the way that you enter tax data for the City of Atlanta and for Fulton County into the S-Tax software.  You must enter City of Atlanta tax data separately, treating the City of Atlanta as a new “county” (160).

Here’s what you need to know.

Dekalb County:

  1. Enter tax data for DEKALB County as you usually do in code 044.
  2. Enter City of Atlanta tax data into the new ATLANTA code (160) to calculate the City of Atlanta sales at the new additional 1.9%.

Fulton County:

  1. Enter tax data for FULTON County outside the City of Atlanta as you usually do in code 060. This data will include the new Fulton TSPLOST for a total tax rate of 7.75%
  2. Enter data for Fulton County inside the City of Atlanta into the new FULTON-ATL code (161). This data will exclude the new Fulton TSPLOST for a total tax rate of just 7%
  3. Enter City of Atlanta tax data into the new ATLANTA code (160) to calculate the City of Atlanta sales at the new additional 1.9%.
